Five Stockmen’s Association employees recognized for dedicated service
The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association (NDSA) recognized five employees for their long-time service to the state’s livestock industry during a special awards ceremony at the NDSA’s 90th Annual Convention & Trade Show in Minot, N.D., this evening.
Cliff Sanders, Jr., of Clifford, N.D., was recognized for 15 years of service to the NDSA as a brand inspector. He is the inspector in charge at the Central Livestock Market in West Fargo, N.D. Sanders enjoys working with cattle and horses and also has a budding auctioneering career. He and his wife Ladina have three children, Zack, Erick and Cianah.
Arly Schumacher of Hazelton, N.D., was honored for 20 years of service to the NDSA as a brand inspector. He is the inspector in charge at Napoleon Livestock and also works at the sale barn in Herreid, S.D. He and his wife Cara have three children, Matthew, Austin and Rachel. Together, they run a cow-calf and farming operation.
Willy Sevland of Granville, N.D., was also recognized for 20 years of service to the NDSA as a brand inspector. Sevland began his career at Northern Livestock in Minot, and after its closure, was reassigned to Kist Livestock in Mandan, N.D., and the Turtle Lake Scale. Recently, he was reassigned to Rugby Livestock and the Towner Scale. Sevland is also a third-generation rancher and has a cow-calf operation. He has six children, Jeanie, Jonathan, Jerry, Jeffrey, Jacob and Jackie.
Joe Roshau of Dickinson, N.D., was honored for a quarter-century of service to the NDSA. Roshau received a 25-year buckle, but his service as a part-time and local brand inspector dates back much, much farther than that – all the way to 1974. Roshau was put in charge of the Dickinson-area markets in 2006. He and his wife Mary have two grown children, Allen, who is also an NDSA inspector, and Vicki.
Rodney Lutz of Hettinger, N.D., was likewise recognized for a quarter-century of service to the NDSA as a brand inspector. Lutz is in charge of the Bowman market and Home Base and Uecker Yards Scales. He and his wife Lee Ann have one daughter, Chelsee, and operate a cow-calf operation with yearling, backgrounding and farming enterprises.
“The NDSA is blessed to have such wonderful staff dedicated to the organization and industry,” said NDSA President Dan Rorvig, a McVille, N.D., rancher.
